Sonya exited the dining hall, her stomach heavy with chicken and mushrooms. Bright yellow hues to darker blood orange greeted the courtyard as she took a refreshing breath of desert-like air. She crossed her arms from the tingling in her spine while strolling through the dangling willow tree branches with sadness. Her feet dampened from the greeting dew along the long shreds of grass as she shuffled through. She approached the bench where she once bonded with Isis the previous night. Tears formed, helpless and alone, without the two people she trusted the most out here, collapsing on the cement in defeat.

"I miss you, Isis," she mouthed to herself, gazing longingly toward the clock tower’s gritty panels. "Why did you break the rules?"

The wind whistled over her lonely temperament. Branches rustled together, shaking like the tiny nudge of a maraca. Her meal was filling, but she didn’t know that she was getting a second course. One that wasn’t food. This one was a tall order of suspicion with a growing list of questions.

Why would Isis be sent home on the first night for breaking the rules, as lovely and innocent as she is?

Why would Ophelia not disclose any sort of reasoning for Leslie's departure?

The logic of the regulations wasn’t lining up. She had to search for some answers. And since nobody was willing to help her, she needed to find out herself, no matter how many rules had to be broken.
